About our service

Each year, we care for over 1,000 critically ill and injured children in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Children in the PICU receive a much higher level of nursing and medical care due to the severity of their illness or injury.

The PICU provides:

  • comprehensive level 6 children's intensive care
  • clinical care for very sick infants and children
  • consultative service.
