Clinical Paediatric Radiology Fellowship
The Paediatric Radiology Provisional Fellow at The Children鈥檚 Hospital at Westmead takes on clinical, leadership, and educational responsibilities within the Department of Medical Imaging.
This role offers a chance to develop key skills for a Consultant role, with guidance from experienced Medical Imaging Consultants. The Fellow will collaborate closely with clinical teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Education and clinical duties
The Fellow will be involved in clinical supervision and contribute to the hospital-wide education program. This includes participating in the after-hours on-call roster. The Department of Medical Imaging offers a comprehensive service with advanced imaging technologies, including MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, and CT.
Department facilities
The Department of Medical Imaging is equipped with 17 examination rooms and state-of-the-art equipment, including two MRI scanners (3T Siemens and 1.5T Phillips), a CT scanner (Siemens Force), four ultrasound machines, two fluoroscopy rooms, and bi-plane angiography. All equipment is integrated into a digital PACS-RIS system.
Role and career development
This Provisional Fellowship is ideal for those who have completed the FRANZCR exam or equivalent and are pursuing a career in Paediatric Radiology. The role provides advanced training in clinical care, education, and research, with a focus on leadership within the department and the broader hospital community.
Duration and funding
The fellowship begins in early February and lasts 12 months.
The fellowship is supported by the training centre according to the standard compensation arrangement for Australian trainees/registrars.
The fellowship includes a salary of approximately AUD 130,000 per year, paid fortnightly. This salary covers your expenses, such as travel, accommodation, and health insurance. On-call work is paid separately with remuneration for time spent on call and for callbacks.
