Strategic priority: Sustainability for the future

Addressing our largest emissions source

Topping out ceremony at the new building at Randwick

The new building at Sydney Children鈥檚 Hospital, Randwick reached its full height in April 2024. The milestone was celebrated with a special rooftop event. The 12-level building will combine enhanced clinical, research and educational facilities, including a new neurosciences centre.

The neurosciences centre will give patients better access to evidence-based, research-driven care in a setting where clinicians, researchers and allied health teams collaborate.

The new building is incorporating sustainable practices into its design and operations. It will deliver on a range of environmental initiatives including renewable, carbon-free energy, external green spaces, comprehensive waste management facilities, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and rooftop solar panels.

We are addressing our largest emissions source, electricity, by minimising fossil fuel use and maximising renewable integration at our hospital redevelopments.
